Mass Effect remaster collection launches May 14, gets epic trailer

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a remastered edition of the first three games in 4K Ultra HD, is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 14, publisher EA revealed Tuesday. Legendary Edition also got a trailer that’ll bring a tear to the eye of the unsuspecting fan.

More than 40 pieces of downloadable content will be included in the package alongside BioWare’s original trilogy, the installments of which were first released in 2007, 2010 and 2012. It’ll include improved character models, high-resolution textures, new lighting, depth-of-field and other visual tweaks.

The collection will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S via backward compatibility — the next-gen consoles will shorten the games’ loading times.

“Remastering a game, let alone three, is a huge undertaking as there’s over 100 hours of gameplay included, but we wanted to do this for our fans as well as a new generation of gamers looking to jump into the iconic story,” Mac Walters, the collection’s project director, said in a release

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was unveiled last November, along with news that a new Mass Effect game is in development.
